Boilers most commonly use natural gas or propane to combust and generate heat to warm water inside the boiler. The heated water then moves to different endpoints placed throughout the space, warming air around those endpoints.
Like furnaces, boilers can be more affordable after the initial installation, they heat up quickly, and are a relatively low-maintenance HVAC option. However, they can be more expensive initially, and while unlikely when properly installed and maintained, the risk of a gas leak cannot be entirely ruled out.
Air can sometimes become trapped in radiators and cause uneven heat distribution. "Bleeding" the radiator can resolve this and is simple to do!
