Ducts are like roads and highways for your HVAC system, routing air throughout each room, nook, and cranny in your home.  Just like poor roads can hold up traffic and cause a big mess, so can poor ductwork, rendering even the best HVAC system useless. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states, "Knowledge about air duct cleaning is in its early stages, so a blanket recommendation cannot be offered as to whether you should have your air ducts in your home cleaned."  That said, they go on to confirm that duct cleaning should be considered if:

• There is substantial visible mold growth inside hard surface
• Ducts are infested with vermin, e.g. (rodents or insects)
• Ducts are clogged with excessive amounts of dust and debris and/or particles are actually released into the home from your supply registers
